    Marriage is love.

It's been over a week since my last update. I've been busy with work. And if not busy with work, sleepy. If not sleepy, talking to Andrei. If not talking to Andrei, learning to cook something new. If not learning to cook something new, working out. If not working out, busy with work. And well you get the idea.

Just finished season 3 of Queer as Folk. Working my way to season 5, it's last. I watched season 1 probably around 6 years ago. Loved it. I was still single then, so the show struck chords and I ate it all up. The characters lived gay lives I wish I lived! (I'll spare you the whole "who are you in the show?" question... you know, like what most gay men do with shows like Sex and the City and Friends (Charlotte and Monica by the way) When the season ended with Justin getting bashed in the head, I recall getting up from my bed and going nuts! Then came season 2, around 3 years later. Didn't fancy it so much. Season 3 was good. Being older and in a relationship, there were things I never thought I could relate to, things I don't relate to anymore, and things which still struck them chords. I wouldn't replace my individual gay friends for anything in the world, but I do wonder how life would've been, or would be, with a gay group of friends. I blog hop and read about lives of gay guys who have a group of gay friends. They have dinners, disco, etc. It must be fun. Or at least interesting. *sigh* Oh well, but trust me, I'm more than happy with the beautiful queer folk in my life who color my world, the beAutiful gAy mAn in my life whose hand fits perfectly in mine, and the beautiful lesbians who I hope one day will live next door.

Ooh, and done with that, tonight, I entered HMV and I couldn't resist...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It's both their final seasons! It cost a bit, but 24 episodes of Will and Grace (including the live episode and guest starring Britney!) and 13 episodes of Arrested Development, I couldn't not buy them. There was something I left behind though which I plan to purchase when I've finished these... Desperate Housewives, season 2. AAaahh... I have no life.

I loved it. Abso-f*ckin-lutely loved it. Everything about the show was just phenomenal. When I saw it in New York, I remember not quite liking the Christine and believed that perhaps Sarah Brightman is the only person who can sing that role (it helps when you're married to the composer... kinda like Linda Eder. Not a lot of people can sing Someone Like You quite like her... Anyhoo) The Christine in this production was perfection. The right mix of classical and broadway. She had the crispiest of high notes. Such control. I melt just thinking about her Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again. Raoul and the Phantom too were excellent. And kudos to the Carlotta who hammered all her high notes in just right. (obviously, i bought no program and I have no idea what their real names are...) No one writes musicals this sweeping anymore. Not even Andrew Lloyd Webber (what the hell was Woman in White?)

Andrei is back in Manila after having spent a couple days in some immersion thing in Laguna. Wasn't able to call him for 3 whole days. Dang I missed him. *sigh*

My weeks here in Hong Kong begin on Sunday. Throw in sleeping till 11, bumming all afternoon, dinner and Phantom with Shiela, and a good night call from Andrei, I could say the week started out Grrrrrrrrreat! Then today, my smile just got brighter. Rehearsals are going really well for the new South Africans we're putting into the Lion King show. They've got this authentic sound which just rocks. I am amazed with how they keep growing everyday.

My youtube.com clip of the entry... A bunch of musical theater majors from some Cincinnati college of music. Cause of this, I am inspired to go into teaching when my days at Disney are over (not in the near future folks...) But, just listening to the rich harmonies, to their synchronized cut-offs, conducted dynamics, bril high notes, coloring, etc... I love it. I wanna take a score like this, shape it, and be behind the piano conducting. Ah... nakakamiss. I think I'll watch my Honk video again... and try to get a copy of my Once On This Island show. Anyhoo, check this out, Let Me Drown by Andrew Lippa (he amazin' folks... and so is they)

It's a good week! I'm feeling good. I'm flying to Shanghai next month! And Manila! Life is good! LET MEE DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (High Ab)

    uh... yeah...

The other night, Tom needed to go to Ikea in Causeway Bay to buy a table. I figured since I was curious about this new Krispy Kreme which I heard had opened there, I joined him. Dinner at Outback, a walk through the dream-house maze that is Ikea, and only getting a bit lost, we found the tiny Krispy Kreme cafe. I bought 5 donuts (at 10 dollars each! Dang... Sa pinas, 15 pesos lang ang Gonuts noh!?) It tasted just like Gonuts really. Just softer. Curiosity satisfied. I can wait for Manila to eat soft donuts again...

Tonight was something different. You see, HKDL has a Summer Pass. Pay HK$450 and come back as many times as you want for the whole summer. A great deal if you ask me. On top of that, while most of the park closes after Fireworks at 8, Fantasyland extends its hours just for these Summer pass holders, who are treated to a party of new characters you don't see during the day, 2 fun mini parades, and the Fab 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto) riding rides with everyone. It's one cool evening festival. I had fixed some of the music used for these extended hours so I dropped by tonight... What a treat for a kid at heart like me.

    Goofy!

    Festival of Fools!

    Tall folks...

Snow White and the 7 Dwarves.. and stranger

    Hunchback Gang...

    and just for Chloe...

    aw...

It was a lot of fun. Really. You grow up watching all of these characters on TV, and you wake up one day... It's the most magical thing really.

It's a really, really busy week. So many events coming up, and on top of that, I'm working with South Africans for our Lion King show. They are fascinating. No better word for it. Fascinating. The sound. The accent. The internal rhythm they got going on. Their spirit. *ache* Nothing like it. You think you know talent. I can't wait to see them on stage.

I'm tired. I should sleep. Long day tomorrow. Again. Good night folks...

    zzzz...

If the other week I was inspired by Pasek and Paul and their Ready To Be Loved tune, this week it's another tandem, Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk (how's that for a last name? In trying to remember it the other day, I typed in Rowdermilk, Mowderlick, and desperate, thought maybe it was Powdermilk... Lowdermilk... remember that) and a song of theirs, Say The Word. It's not an amazing song, but it does hold me. The singer helps in this also... sweet.

Hmmm... Nothing much happening in my life right now. I mean, outside of work. Halloween, cast change, 1st year anniversary... Everything is rolling along nicely. I bought a blender which came with a free sandwich toaster. Thought that was a good deal...

    Sound cue: crickets

I can tell you're bored. Watch this instead. Its from The Wedding Singer. I love the song...

If you're wondering, and if I remember correctly, the part where they open up their shirts, hers reads "I'm with stupid" and his reads "Stupid"... I think. And for those of you who can recognize the guy playing Boq... who knew he could sing so well...

    Storm's a brewing again...

    This clip, damn...

Can you hear the audience going nuts, clapping non-stop over the "step-kick-kick-leap-kick-touch" And just listen to that audience roar when the choreographer shoots the pistol with "Away from the mirror. A 5-6-7-8..." Deafening. *ah* That timeless dance routine, the reckless energy, that exhilirating score... This is theater at its finest. They're restaging it on Broadway later this year. Should be interesting. This one too. I love it when the audience goes nuts and the number has barely begun...

The human voice. Amazing what it's capable of noh? Rafiki's voice just soars.

Went downtown today with friends. Walked through the building here with a bunch of Filipino stores. Found Purefoods hotdog and Pampanga's Best tocino. I was so HAPPY. The hotdog in this country sucks. I miss the good ol' red hotdog. But for what would've only cost a total of a hundred pesos total in Manila, I paid HK$70... or almost 500 pesos. I mean, obviously, this country has a different cost of living, but still, it feels really expensive. Zeesh...

Funny, someone from college, who I knew in a "Hi, Hello" kind of way and have seen maybe 3 or 4 times since graduating (1999), texted me out of the blue asking if I could get his brother and some friends into the park for free or get a discount maybe. Really... now why would I? Wow... Word gets around... and you pull what strings you can right? Zeesh.

    Just got home from this...

    Pirates!

    Costume movie.

I need to watch the first one. A bunch of us from work watched it here. Uber sosi. 16 people to a room. Spacious and comfy chair. Bottomless popcorn, iced tea, and one hotdog (which was actually quite gross). I need to try the theater like this in Manila. Last I recall, there was the one in Gateway and Shang mall. I love my job!!!

Then yesterday (thursday) cause of the weather, the park closed early. A first! But the weather was windy. I mean, really windy... Signal #3. The park was practically empty already... And outside, you see a lot of this...

    charming...

That was the worst wind storm I've experienced here. My building and the building in front of mine had formed a wind tunnel in between that resulted in a real battle, pushing against the wind just to get to the door of my lobby. I burst out laughing once I got through. It felt like a movie...

    I'm sleepy...

Another month. Wish you were around.
    Love you Bu. Good night.

It's typhoon signal #3, which is kinda the equivalent of signal #1 in Manila. The wind is just slamming against my balcony window as I type this. But it's not so much rain, rain. Just rain. And a lot of wind. Which is a contrast from yesterday's painful heat.

Don't have anything to blog about in my life right now. I'm knee deep in Halloween preparations and dipping my toes in Christmas. Other than that, I've been getting my life in shape. I've been working out regularly for almost a month now, which is great. Eating at home at night, which means 2 things: saving money AND learning to cook. In my effort to return to song writing, I've started a learn-a-word-a-day program to build my vocabulary (today's word was fussbudget... um... I didn't say I'd really get to use all the words, but it's a start). I'm getting my life in order. I've decided to learn something new everyday. Try something new every week. Open doors. I might even start reading! (or not... baby steps) I like what Oprah said on her website... "So after many years of my weight going up and down—of saying on Monday "I'm going to do it" and by Wednesday failing—I realized that the commitment to do well and to be well is a lifetime of choices that you make daily. The space to live in is not "I'll try." Not "I want to." Not "I really want to." It's "I have decided." Ain't that the truth. I've decided. (no, I don't plan to lose weight...)

Watching Pirates on Friday with a lot of people from work. We're getting treated to a showing cause it just opened here. I love my job. And I'm watching Phantom, on my own expense, in 2 weeks. Can't wait for that either. No trips to Manila this August though I really, really want to. But I've decided to save for a future. (aw diba) A future in a Rockwell apartment with Andrei... (naks) So the next time I'm in town just might be the baptism of Angel's new baby.

    Oh, Pippin fans, watch this.

Julia Murney. Goddess... Those legs!! His chest!!! Did you catch her cherry-on-the-top ending? For those of you who don't know the musical Pippin so well, this song really just ends with a fade out of scatting. So to punch that ending like that. Sweet. She played Elphaba in the tour of Wicked. Watch her Wizard and I (the only clip I could find of her Defying Gravity is not very good, so just watch that and imagine...) She's phenomenal. One more...

She's so generous. That energy! And I love that you see the girl smile behind Julia when she belts "BeyOOOOOOND!" I had the same reaction...

The wind is even stronger now...

    *sigh* I miss Bu.
deciding is easy. the follow through, isn't always...
