So there I was, in front of the Tokyo Disneyland castle for a second time in the same year. I love my job! We arrived Saturday afternoon and it was freezing. Russ and Jen were excited to show me around (last time, we were booked at one of the Disney hotels so I didn't get to see anything outside of the park. This time however, we were downtown.) We had a wonderful dinner down Roppongi, one of the main roads there. But with a long and early day coming up, we were back in the hotel by an early 10 pm. The next day, I got to see the parks in all their Christmas glory. Disneyland was PACKED! We went out around the time of the parade (of which they run several Christmas ones a day) and there were just droves of people everywhere. Turns out to be a holiday weekend. Wow. Tokyo Disneysea was a little more comfortable in terms of space, and still my favorite land between the two... Do you see the cooks? Our park has "Jammitors," who are drummers playing the role of janitors who go out with their trash cans and shout, "BREAK TIME" and burst into rhythm and dance using trash can equipment as percussion. In Disneysea, they've got Kitchen Beat. Same idea. Also a lot of fun. Everyone and everything was in a festive mood. And cold air to top it all off. Cozy. Our flight the next day wasn't till evening so I had the whole morning to do some exploring, first stop Tokyo Tower which looks better from a distance than it does up close (I mean it looks fine up close, majestic, you just can't get a good shot). I took this from a cab. Yup, it fashioned after the Eiffel Tower and it's taller. You might wonder, why the "lovely" orange color. Air safety regulations. I guess so no plane runs into it. Hmmm... Then the rest of the morning was spent with an old friend from ISM days, Maiga. She took me to Harajuku for lunch and to go Harajuku girl watching. No sighting that morning. (parang safari) Haha... It was great catching up. Monday night, I was back in my apartment. A blur. Tokyo was great, but I gotta say, I love Hong Kong even more today than yesterday... rhapsody [

And just a sneeze after Halloween (literally, I've had the worst colds this past month), we opened Christmas. Some scenes around the park... As always, characters dressed up for the holidays, Santa's workshop where you can get a picture with Ol' St. Nick himself, Dapper Dans serenading folk on Main Street as the titanic tree watches over everything, our Let it Snow Christmas parade which comes down the street to "snow" (and cause of the wind blowing during the media event yesterday, it felt like a blizzard), four ice princesses and a pumpkin carriage stand proud in front of the castle, and they light up at night quite beautifully... Then there's of course our version of the castle lighting, which I wasn't able to get a good video of yet so for now, it's just this... Which really doesn't do it justice just yet. And that's my good friend Celina in the picture with me, a high school friend who was in town for a couple days. Unfortunately, I had to work and work, but it was all worth it when she made it to the park to watch the parade and castle lighting with me. After which, we raced home to change and get ready for an Entertainment Thanksgiving dinner. She was a most charming date. After stuffing ourselves with enough turkey and stuffing to put ourselves in an oven to bake, I took her to Lan Kwai Fong since it was her last night. Rabbi had invited to the launch of the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and I thought it'd be a nice stress reliever to check it out. F.I.N.D.S. Gorgeous place and it seems that Rabbi's life post-Disney is doing just fine. Thanks for the invite! It was the longest day which ended with us on the ferry back to Dbay, half asleep. She left today for Singapore. Which is cool cause tomorrow, I fly off to Tokyo for auditions. Back on Monday then off to Manila on Wednesday for real rest. Woohoo! Things are looking up... And on the topic of looking ahead, they've lowered the construction walls to give passerbys a sneak preview to next year's big attraction opening... Can you guess? On other things, am absolutely loving Audrey 3 (I've so named my Macbook), but I'll tell you now, I'm writing this off my desktop. I've decided to still put all my pictures for 2007 in this computer which I will then archive before I sell so Audrey will only carry 2008 onwards. (You see, I'm both O.C. and dramatic). But seeing that there are a lot of things this year that I'd rather forget, I figure, new year, new life, new computer. Manila trip planning is looking sweet. My aim is 5 shows in the week and a half I'm there. Seussical in Trinoma, Into the Woods in Music Museum, Fiddler in Greenbelt, First Name in Mall of Asia, and Dogeaters in RCBC. If I'm really lucky, Regine has a concert. Hehe... rhapsody [

I did it. I'm moving on. Goodbye to blueberry pie... I bought a Macbook Pro. I've had this good ol' PC since 2005 and I figure with all the changes in my life this year, why not a few more before the year ends. You see, my bulky computer now takes up space in my living room, in front of the sofa where a TV should be. So now that I'm packing up the computer, I did the right thing and bought an LCD TV over the weekend too! Yup, change, change, change. Laptop comes in at the end of the week pa, they're loading a bunch of things into it first. So, I spent some time tonight transferring picture files to DVD for storage. Don't think I'll put them in the new laptop (I need a name for him... hmmm...) I'll start anew. Except maybe a couple Chloe pictures here and there. I've always been a Windows user, but I figure I'll try to get used to this Mac thing for a while. If ever naman, the new mac can run Windows too if ever I miss it too much. But checking out this new Leopard/iLife thingy, looks like I'm gonna enjoy the new features so let's see. Had a couple friends visit these past two days... Suki and his friend Frances, lovely lady who knew how to meet guys at gay bars better than newly single-d Suki and I. Here we are at a gay bar here named Volume. The reason the picture is like that is cause Suki wanted a shot of the cute guy behind him... Haha. We met a French guy too. Then Skye came to the park today with Leah and Carla. I was only able to bring them in and was stuck at work backstage most of the day. I met up to say my goodbyes while they were waiting for fireworks... Skye was kinda over it already though. She just wanted to go home... hehe... Adorable girl! Then Celina is in town for a couple days next week, she'll be staying with me at the Hollywood hotel cause I'll be working, but she'll be my date for the Christmas launch on Nov 22 and Thanksgiving later on that same night. Then a quick trip to Tokyo again, then I'm flying home for a week to catch a million musicals! Oh, on that topic of flying home, isn't Adam Pascal amazing here? And that was that. Tomorrow, I check into the hotel for two long nights of listening to music in the park. All very exciting really so no worries, I don't have to be at work till 2 pm... YAY! Yeah, I'm taking life too seriously right now... I gotta relax. Like Chloe... "SHUT UP!" rhapsody [

I'm no artist in anyway, but I made my dear friend Jennie Nuyda, who celebrates her birthday today, a fairy. You can make one too... click here. It's the official Tinkerbell website. Don't know if it looks like her... Here's how she really looks, standing next to me at MY birthday this year. Just gave her a call. She's walking around Market, Market waiting for rehearsals for Seussical to begin. I met this girl in 2000, Playshop Alabang and a million songs later, she's still someone I consider very close. So Happy Birthday Jennie! So I'm at the office now. Waiting for another late night work session. Last night more music work, which no one will hear till the official launch on November 22. But trust me, it ROCKS!!! On the other hand, what anybody who walks into the park will notice is the slow transformation into Christmas at HKDL, or what we call, a "Sparkling Christmas". Right now, there are wreaths hang on walls, Christmas merchandise and displays color the stores, and right in front of the castle is an ice-like sculpture, horse drawn carriage, the one from Cinderella so it slightly resembles a pumpkin. It's gorgeous. I can't wait to post pictures. It's really beginning to look a lot like Christmas. On other things, apparently DLSU is holding some sort of Pride Gay week and they got in touch with me to be featured somehow. As an out and proud, successful, gay La Sallian. Go figure. I had to answer a couple questions and send a picture. I got a thank you email a while ago which said they'd like to send me the tarp. Wow, I'm on a tarp? Neat. hehe. And they couldn't call it Pride Week daw because La Salle is still a catholic school. So they called it "Pride Against Prejudice Week" Whatever works. One of the questions was, "Has your gender ever hindered you from being a Lasallian achiever?" I guess I'm lucky, I said No. Which is something. I came out after college and I don't recall ever having to hide the fact to get work. That's lucky. I forget sometimes how hard it is for others. Anyhoo, that was kinda neat. A lot of crazy things happening in life outside of work right now. On losing hope? I'm not really one to give up on anyone or anything. But there's a fine, fine line I guess between denial and optimism. I guess it's cause I know me. If I decide to give up, it's a point of no return. But this is one of those moments where I guess I'm gonna have to let go. Completely. Accept that someone isn't who they were anymore. That they'll never go back to it. That people really do change and really do leave. Give up and move on. I'll give myself till Monday to decide. This really isn't my favorite year. Oh wait, this was supposed to be a happy blog. And it is, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNIE! (or shall I say, Jeanie Nightwish!) | |||||||||||||
